Dead Animal Pickup in a Youngstown Yard
You can see it, you know roughly what it is, and you would rather not be the one to pick it up. This is the simplest version of the job and usually the quickest to price on the phone.
The usual ones
Raccoon, opossum, groundhog, squirrel, skunk, and the neighborhood cat nobody wants to be the one to move. Older Mahoning County lots come with deep porches, detached garages and open crawl vents, and animals that are sick or cornered head for exactly those places before they die.
Where they turn up
- Against a fence line or a foundation wall
- Under a deck, porch or back step
- In a flowerbed, a window well or a garden bed
- Inside a detached garage or shed with a door left ajar
- Behind a shed or in the gap between a garage and a fence
- On a commercial lot, a dumpster pad or a loading area
A skunk is a different conversation
Not because it is harder to lift, but because of what happens if it is handled badly. Say on the call if that is what you have, so the operator can tell you whether they take that work and what it changes. This site does not assume the answer on their behalf.
Leave it where it is
Moving a carcass with a shovel tends to make the job worse and puts you in contact with whatever was living on it. If it is somewhere you have to walk past, cover it with a bin or a board and leave the ground undisturbed.
Pets are not this
A dead dog or cat that belongs to somebody is a different call. Mahoning County Dog Warden or your veterinarian handles the ownership side of that, and a removal operator is not the right first phone call.
