Does the City of Youngstown pick up dead animals?
On City streets and at the curb, yes. Youngstown Public Works states that the City will remove dead animals on City streets or at the curb, and that dead animals on private property are the responsibility of the property owner. Street cases go to Public Works on 330-742-8800 or through the City’s SeeClickFix form, and cost you nothing.
There is a dead deer at the back of my lot. Who takes it?
You do, or someone you hire. Private land is the owner’s responsibility under the City’s own wording and under Ohio Revised Code 941.14. A deer is the job most people cannot do themselves, mainly because of the weight and because household trash is not a disposal route for it.
How does pricing work on a Mahoning County job?
It is quoted on the call, against your actual job. Four things move it: what the animal is, where on the property it is, how close a vehicle can get, and how long it has been there. No figure is published here because the operator sets their own prices and has not authorized one.
The smell is coming from inside a wall. Can that be dealt with?
If the wall connects to an attic, a crawl space or another space somebody can get into, often yes. If it is a sealed interior wall with no route to it, no. Reaching it means cutting the wall open and then repairing it, which is construction work and is not booked here.
How long does the smell last if nothing is removed?
It fades as the animal dries out, and how long that takes depends on the size of the animal, the time of year and how much air moves through the space. Nobody can give you an honest number of days, and a site that does is guessing.
When would somebody actually get out here?
That is the operator’s to answer and it depends on their day. This site does not promise same-day service, an arrival window, or 24-hour availability, because it is not in a position to keep any of those promises.
Do you cover Warren or Niles?
No. This line covers Youngstown and Mahoning County. Warren, Niles, Howland and Girard are in Trumbull County, which is a different operator’s territory. If you are up there, the ZIP on the form routes you to the right person rather than to us.
Is this a local Youngstown company?
This site is an advertising and booking line, not a removal company. It has no office, crew or vehicles. The work is done by an independent operator who covers Mahoning County and contracts with you directly.
What if it is my pet?
That is a different call. A veterinarian handles cremation and burial arrangements, and the Mahoning County Dog Warden deals with ownership questions around dogs. A removal operator is not the right first phone call for a pet.
Can you tell me what animal it is over the phone?
Sometimes, from a good description. Often not, and it rarely matters much, because what changes the job is size, location and access rather than species. Say what you can see and leave the identification to whoever turns up.
Where does the carcass end up once it leaves?
It is bagged and taken off your property by the operator, who handles disposal. Ohio Revised Code 941.14 sets out the lawful methods; that duty sits with the property owner until somebody is engaged to deal with it.
I sent the form. What now?
It goes to the operator covering your ZIP, and they call the number you left to work out a price and a time. Sending the form does not book a visit by itself. If you would rather not wait, calling reaches the same place faster.

That is normal, and it is not a reason to put off the call. Describe what you can see or smell and where it is. If it turns out to be the City’s to collect, you will be told that rather than sold a visit.
